Discover Rekado

Tucked away along 20 S White Horse Pike in Somerdale, NJ, there’s a cozy spot that food lovers in South Jersey can’t stop talking about-Rekado. The moment you step inside, you’re greeted by the rich aroma of simmering sauces, sizzling meats, and the comforting hum of a place that feels both familiar and exciting. It’s the kind of diner where the warmth isn’t just in the food but in every conversation, every smile, and every detail of the space.

On my first visit, the menu surprised me with how diverse yet cohesive it was. From hearty rice bowls and grilled specialties to flavorful seafood dishes, every plate told a story. I tried their signature pork adobo, slow-cooked until tender and bursting with layers of sweet, tangy, and savory notes. It reminded me of the kind of home cooking that takes hours of patience-marinating, stirring, and tasting until it’s perfect. The balance of spices showed real experience in the kitchen, the kind that comes only from years of refining recipes passed down through generations.

Friends I brought along ordered the sizzling beef tapa and the classic garlic rice combo, which came with a perfectly fried egg on top. It looked simple but tasted deeply satisfying, a comfort meal that felt both authentic and elevated. We even shared a few appetizers-crispy lumpia and juicy skewers that disappeared almost instantly. The restaurant’s staff made sure our table stayed lively, checking in with genuine care without hovering. That small-town friendliness adds so much charm to the dining experience here in Somerdale.

Talking to the owner gave me insight into what makes Rekado special. Their approach to cooking isn’t about shortcuts-it’s about honoring the flavors of tradition while keeping the presentation modern and appealing. Many of their ingredients are sourced locally, and every dish is freshly prepared. This isn’t fast food; it’s slow, deliberate, and full of pride. According to a study by the National Restaurant Association, more than 70% of diners today value freshness and authenticity over convenience, and this place embodies exactly that sentiment.

The restaurant’s interior design mirrors its menu-simple yet inviting. Wooden accents, soft lighting, and cheerful music in the background create a welcoming vibe. It’s easy to imagine spending an afternoon here, whether you’re catching up with friends or taking a quiet lunch break. The layout is cozy enough for intimate dining but still feels open and comfortable. Reviews online often highlight not just the food but the atmosphere and friendly service, proving that consistency and care are key ingredients in their success.

For anyone exploring food spots in Camden County, Rekado stands out because it offers something personal. You don’t just eat here-you feel part of a story. Each visit reveals something new, whether it’s a special dish added to the menu or a new twist on a familiar favorite. Locals often mention how the flavors remind them of family gatherings, while newcomers praise the quality and freshness that exceed expectations.

It’s also worth noting how accessible the location is. Situated on White Horse Pike, it’s just minutes away from nearby towns like Lindenwold and Magnolia, making it a convenient stop for both residents and travelers. Parking is easy, and the staff always welcome walk-ins, though reservations are recommended during weekends when the place fills up fast.

After several visits, I’ve come to appreciate the consistency here. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, the flavors never waver. Their attention to detail-from packaging to presentation-shows professionalism and care. In a culinary world often dominated by trends, Rekado stays true to what really matters: flavor, authenticity, and heart.

If you ever find yourself craving comforting, home-style food made with passion, this hidden gem in Somerdale deserves a spot on your list. Every dish feels like a small celebration, crafted by people who genuinely love what they do, and that’s something you can taste with every bite.

  • Rekado Filipino Cuisine is a gem! The food is always delicious, with different dishes offered daily, so there’s always something new to try. Prices are very affordable, and the portions are generous. In addition to the restaurant, they also have a Fil-Mart stocked with Filipino grocery items, plus a catering menu where you can order half or full trays for any occasion. Friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere make this spot a must-visit!

  • New owners of Rekado (formerly Manila Cafe). Same great food! We had Lechon Kawali and it was very fresh and crispy. The curry chicken was ok. My favorite is the beef Caldereta! It's a very tiny place but you can eat there or take out
